There are some standard tasks that everyone should know how to complete on Mac. From basic functions to more in-depth operations, the more you know about how to operate your MacBook, the more skills you will have to streamline your workflow and the ability to fix any issues that may arise.
Learning the basic skills and common commands on your MacBook is something that I recommend to everyone. One task that you should be familiar with is how to delete bookmarks on Mac.
We will get into specifics of what a bookmark is and how to use them but they are a common feature on your computer that most of you are already familiar with.
Bookmarks are easy to create but not everyone knows how to delete them, so let’s take a look at the steps needed to remove bookmarks from commonly used browsers.
What is a Bookmark?
This seems like a pretty straightforward question. A bookmark is a small piece of paper or other material that marks where you stopped reading in a book, right? Well, that is literally what a bookmark is, but in the world of computers, it has another meaning.
A bookmark on your Mac is somewhat similar to a physical bookmark but rather than hold your place in a book, it marks a link to a webpage so you can easily revisit it later.
You can create bookmarks to easily access information of any kind that you find on the internet. This is useful if, for instance, you are browsing online and find a website you really enjoy or a link to a good discount on a product you wish to purchase.
Oftentimes, it can be difficult to find a site again if you don’t remember the web address so creating a bookmark for the page allows you to quickly find it again during a new browsing session.
Using bookmarks can also allow you to organize many different websites that you might visit frequently in a manner that works well for you. Let’s say you really like to find recipes online and also love following news about basketball.
You can set up different folders of bookmarks that are designated to your liking. In the example above, you could have a bunch of bookmarks with recipes in one folder and all of your basketball links in another.

One thing to know about bookmarks is that they are specific to the internet browser that you are using. We will take a look at the steps to delete bookmarks from common internet browsers for Mac users here – Safari, Firefox, and Google Chrome.
If you delete a bookmark on one browser, that doesn’t mean it will delete it on another so be sure to delete each bookmark you wish to do on each browser separately.

Why Delete Bookmarks?
There can be multiple reasons to delete the bookmarks off your MacBook.
The most common reason would be simply organizational. You might not wish to visit the website that you bookmarked and therefore don’t need it saved anymore. Deleting bookmarks can help you stay organized with the bookmarks you do wish to keep by minimizing clutter and unwanted links in your bookmark toolbar.
Some people never delete their bookmarks after they create them. I personally like to keep things tidy and in order throughout my computer so I go through maybe once a month and delete any bookmarks that I’ve created that I no longer need.
You don’t need to delete bookmarks for any real reason but I like to from an organizational standpoint.
Now you know how to delete bookmarks on Mac, whether you are using Safari, Chrome, or Firefox.
This is a really easy task that helps to keep things organized if you are particular about information and links stored in your system.
Remember that each internet browser holds its own bookmarks so if you use multiple browsers, you’ll need to delete bookmarks from each one. Bookmarks will last indefinitely without deleting them so whether you choose to remove them or not is up to you.
